Marisa Velez

I am in the fashion accessories business. I co-own a company called Vice Versa. I've also worked in the medical field as Executive Director of a health center and have been writing for pleasure since I was in pigtails. Since meeting Christine, my passion for weaving a tale together has flared up and we have gone into partnership to produce (hopefully) some very exciting and romantic stories for all of you! As to my other interests, I am a serious movie buff, both Christine and I share a love of history and shall we just put our cards on the table...shopping of course!

I am a professional public library librarian. In addition to doing the desk reference four days a week, I am in charge of all adult programming. Movie night, author talks and signings, Reader's Advisory, our web site, the monthly adult coffeehouse...and anything new I, or someone else, can think of. When did I start writing? High school, but it wasn't until after college that I became serious about it, and not until after Grad School, that I really started polishing a story.

How we started...

Why did we decide to write together? That's a good question, and one we ask each other every couple of weeks - usually in the middle of an argument. Yes, we argue. A lot. But it usually works out in the end where some kind of compromise is reached and we're both happy.

Hmm, how did we form this partnership? Really it's probably all about time. Neither of us has enough to do this in any kind of remotely timely manner. It's also about how our different styles mesh. Christine likes to add details - internal thoughts, scenic description, anything that makes someone really know what's going on around a character. Marisa likes dialogue. Short, fast, little description, if you can't say it, forget it. Both of which are gross simplifications of ourselves. Still, we mesh. There are scenes we have where it's obvious who wrote it, and those where we have to wonder.
